The protocol for pulling prior imaging is agreed with the client on an individual basis. This can be modality or exam specific, and the number of priors can be agreed in line with local policy.

Radiologists receive automatic notifications from Vital systems that studies have been assigned. They access the data centre via 2 factor authentication over an HSCN VPN Trust, to view images on the Vital PACS. 

Once reports are completed and verified, they are automatically sent back via HL7 message to the host RIS. The system is highly secure with images never leaving the HSCN environment.
