Dr Prem Rangi
Medical Director and Clinical Lead “Neuro” Imaging

Dr. Prem Rangi, an esteemed Consultant in Interventional and Diagnostic Neuroradiology. With an impressive background at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Dr. Rangi brings two decades of experience specializing in the interventional treatment of complex neurovascular conditions. He is highly skilled in advanced imaging techniques for treating aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, and spinal conditions, including tumours and vascular abnormalities. Dr. Rangi’s expertise in minimally invasive procedures, such as spinal kyphoplasty, reflects his dedication to cutting-edge patient care and precision in interventional neuroradiology. His collaborative work with multidisciplinary teams, including neurosurgeons and neurologists, underscores his commitment to comprehensive care for cerebrovascular and spinal disorders.

In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Rangi is an accomplished academic with numerous publications, including textbook chapters and articles in esteemed journals on neurovascular and spinal disorders. He actively participates in clinical governance programs focused on patient safety and risk minimization. His research interests encompass the endovascular management of neurovascular diseases and minimally invasive spinal procedures. Dedicated to advancing medical knowledge, Dr. Rangi is deeply involved in the training and mentorship of junior radiologists, nurturing the next generation of neuroradiology specialists. His expertise and leadership are a valuable addition to Vital Radiology’s mission of delivering world-class radiology services.

Dr David Rosewarne
Clinical Lead “Chest Imaging”

Dr. David Rosewarne, an accomplished consultant radiologist with a strong scientific background, joins Vital Radiology Services as the Clinical Lead for Chest Imaging. Based at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton, UK, Dr. Rosewarne combines extensive experience in radiology with a PhD in physics, offering a unique approach to thoracic diagnostics. His expertise in interventional ultrasound is particularly beneficial in reducing reliance on CT imaging, addressing resource constraints in the NHS. Dr. Rosewarne’s clinical interests also encompass head and neck imaging, along with cardiac CT, reflecting a well-rounded proficiency in advanced imaging techniques.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Rosewarne has taken on several prominent roles, such as Chair of the West Midlands Association of Radiologists and Radiology Lead for the West Midlands Clinical Research Network. As a Health Education England Topol Fellow, he spearheads projects in digital transformation, including the integration of AI algorithms and natural language processing in radiology workflows. Dr. Rosewarne’s forward-thinking approach and dedication to innovation make him an invaluable addition to the Vital Radiology Services team.

Dr Neeral Patel
Clinical Lead “Urological Imaging”

Dr. Neeral Patel, a distinguished consultant in diagnostic and interventional radiology, joins Vital Radiology Services as the Clinical Lead for Clinical Lead “Urological Imaging”. Currently based at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Dr. Patel brings extensive expertise in GI and GU radiology, supported by an intercalated BSc in Gastroenterology and Hepatology from Imperial College London. His clinical acumen is complemented by significant international experience, including a clinical fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at the University of Toronto, where he specialized in advanced interventional procedures.

In addition to his clinical role, Dr. Patel is an active contributor to radiology research, with numerous publications and presentations at global conferences. He has been awarded multiple honors, such as the RSNA Magna Cum Laude Prize and CIRSE’s Rolf W. Gunther Award. His leadership experience includes serving as Trauma Radiology Lead at Imperial College NHS Trust. Known for his dedication to innovation and excellence in patient care, Dr. Patel is a valuable addition to Vital Radiology Services’ leadership team in GI/GU imaging.

Dr Vimal Raj
Clinical Lead “Out Of Hours and Academic initiatives”

Dr. (Major) Vimal Raj, MBBS, FRCR, CCT (UK), PGDMLS, EDM, is a distinguished expert in cardiothoracic imaging with an illustrious career spanning multiple countries and prestigious institutions. As the Clinical Lead for Academic Initiatives at Vital Radiology, he brings unparalleled expertise and vision. Dr. Raj currently leads cardiothoracic imaging for the NH group, a major healthcare network in India, where he has pioneered a state-of-the-art cardiac imaging unit in Bangalore and mentored numerous specialists in the field. His experience includes working at world-renowned centers like Papworth Hospital in Cambridge, the Royal Brompton Hospital in London, and Glenfield Hospital in Leicester. A decorated veteran, Dr. Raj has also served in the British Army, earning commendations from both British and Indian governments for his contributions, including service in Afghanistan.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Raj has a deep-rooted passion for education and innovation. He has authored three books, numerous book chapters, and almost 100 articles in leading journals, making significant contributions to medical literature. His research includes a patent in catheter design for post-mortem CT coronary angiography, underscoring his commitment to advancing the field. A thought leader in Artificial Intelligence in imaging, he advises corporate partners on AI applications and serves on multiple committees, shaping national and international imaging guidelines. Dr. Raj is also a final FRCR examiner for the Royal College of Radiologists, UK, and an active member of various radiology and imaging societies, reflecting his dedication to the academic and technological growth of radiology globally.

Dr. Raekha Kumar
Clinical Lead for “Head & Neck and ENT” Imaging 

Dr. Raekha Kumar is a highly skilled Consultant Radiologist with subspecialty expertise in Head & Neck imaging and extensive experience in oncological radiology. Trained at Northwick Park Hospital and Mount Vernon Hospital, Dr. Kumar brings a wealth of knowledge to Vital Radiology Services. Her contributions to radiological literature, including co-authored book chapters on head and neck imaging, and numerous publications, underscore her expertise and commitment to advancing medical imaging in her field.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Kumar is passionate about education and quality improvement in radiology. She has organized national workshops, mentored junior radiologists, and implemented innovative imaging protocols, enhancing patient care and departmental efficiency. Her leadership in ENT and head and neck radiology makes her an invaluable asset to the team at Vital Radiology Services.

Dr Jas Sawhney
Clinical Lead “MSK” Imaging

Dr. Jasdev Sawhney, a highly experienced Consultant Radiologist with over 13 years of service, currently serves as the Clinical Lead for Musculoskeletal (MSK) studies at Vital Radiology Services. He held a pivotal role at Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Foundation Trust, where he specialized in MSK imaging and led as the Radiology Clinical Director. Dr. Sawhney’s extensive expertise encompasses all general radiology fields, with a particular focus on MSK diagnostics.

An accomplished academic, Dr. Sawhney was awarded the Arcot Gajraj Gold Medal for achieving the top position in the Diplomate in National Board (DNB) Radiology examination in India. His contributions to radiology research include publications on complex topics like discitis and active involvement in the SLE Ultrasound Hand Trial, where he mentors sonographers for a multi-center national study on synovitis. Dr. Sawhney’s commitment to radiological excellence makes him a valuable asset to Vital Radiology Services.

Dr. Nemi Gandy
Clinical Lead for “Oncology Imaging”

Dr. Nemi Gandy, a Consultant Radionuclide and Chest Radiologist, brings a wealth of expertise and leadership to Vital Radiology as the Clinical Lead for Oncology Imaging. With a robust background in nuclear medicine and oncological imaging, Dr. Gandy has been instrumental in advancing diagnostic pathways, including the implementation of streamlined protocols for melanoma sentinel lymph node imaging and PET/CT services. Her contributions as an ARSAC licence holder and Clinical Lead at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust underscore her commitment to clinical excellence and innovation. Dr. Gandy’s research, published in leading journals, reflects her focus on improving diagnostic accuracy in oncology imaging, particularly in PET/CT and musculoskeletal SPECT/CT.

 

A dedicated educator and leader, Dr. Gandy serves as the Training Programme Director for the London North West Clinical Radiology Training Scheme, mentoring the next generation of radiologists. She has delivered numerous national and international presentations on nuclear medicine advancements and imaging strategies. Her academic foundation from the University of Edinburgh, coupled with fellowship training from the Royal College of Radiologists, aligns with her passion for integrating cutting-edge imaging technologies into patient care. Outside her clinical and academic endeavors, Dr. Gandy enjoys music, dance, and sports, reflecting a dynamic and well-rounded professional persona.
